The Cedar Rapids RoughRiders are excited to announce Hampus Sjodahl as the team’s new Assistant
coach. Hampus joins the RoughRiders from the North American Hockey League’s 2022 Robertson Cup
Finalist Austin Bruins. Sjodahl joins Mike Lysyj and Evan Draves as RoughRider assistant coaches.
“Hampus has done a tremendous job as an assistant coach with the Austin Bruins over the last 2
seasons. He’s made a significant impact on all aspects of the Bruins organization, on the ice coaching,
teaching as well as in the Bruins scouting efforts. We welcome Hampus and his wife Moriah to the
RoughRider family.”
Born in Stockholm, Sweden, Sjödahl moved to the United States in 2014 to play junior hockey for the
Odessa Jackalopes of the North American Hockey League. He spent two seasons in Odessa, totaling 103
points in 115 games, holding the franchise record for all-time goals scored. His junior accolades included
being a member of the All-NAHL Team, the South Division All-Star Team, the South Division MVP as well
as the South Division Forward of the Year. Hampus attended the Dallas Stars Development Camp in the
summer of 2016. Sjödahl continued his playing career at Bemidji State University, where he played four
years of collegiate hockey while pursuing a degree. In his senior season, he was an Alternate Captain for
the Beavers and graduated in the spring of 2020 with a degree in Business Administration.
"I am very excited and honored to join the RoughRiders organization. The opportunity to work with
Coach Carlson and the rest of the staff is something I am extremely grateful for, and very much looking
forward to. My wife and I are thrilled to be part of the Cedar Rapids community, and I can't wait to get
started." - Hampus
