The Cedar Rapids RoughRiders earned four points over the weekend, defeating the Dubuque Fighting Saints 5–2 in Saturday's Timberline Manufacturing Home Opener at The Stable and the Sioux City Musketeers 5–2 on the road Sunday. Saturday's win was the first game of this season's Dupaco Cowbell Cup, giving the Riders the first two points in the series. Cedar Rapids is
4–0–0 to start the 2026–27 season.
On Saturday, David Bosco opened the scoring early in the second period with his second goal of the season. Chase Pavlesich earned his first USHL point with an assist on the play. Goals from Nate Chorlton and Jackson Fox gave Cedar Rapids a 3–0 lead heading into the third.
Dubuque scored twice early in the third to pull within one, but Sullivan Miller answered with his first goal of the season. Chorlton added an empty net goal to seal the win.
Four Riders scored and seven recorded points Saturday. Chorlton and Henry Lechner led the team with three points each, while Carter Ernst, Bosco and Miller had two apiece. Joseph Skidmore made 28 saves for his second win of the season.
On Sunday in Sioux City, Ernst opened the scoring with a power play goal, his first of the season. Ruben Westerling followed with his first goal of the season, and Lechner scored his fourth to give the Riders a 3–1 lead after the first period.
The Musketeers cut the lead to 3–2 early in the third, but Liam Fournier scored his first USHL goal on the power play. Cade Sherman then added his first USHL goal to complete the 5–2 win.
Ethan Phillips made 21 saves for his second victory of the season.
Chorlton, Lechner and Lucas Siomos each recorded multiple points Sunday. Lechner has three consecutive multipoint games, while Chorlton has recorded three points in each of his last three games. Chorlton has 10 points through four games.
Across the two games, Cedar Rapids went 3-for-5 on the power play and 6-for-6 on the penalty kill.
