RoughRiders Extend Point Streak to 12 Games

The Cedar Rapids RoughRiders found the luck of the Irish on St. Patrick's Day, continuing their stretch of total team effort by extending their point streak to a league-best 12 straight games with a 4–3 overtime win over Des Moines in a Dupaco Cowbell Cup matchup.

Four different RoughRiders recorded goals in the victory. Grant Young scored his 14th goal of the season with just 51 seconds remaining in regulation to tie the game at 3–3 and force overtime. Young's goal came on a milestone night as he skated in his 150th career USHL game.

In overtime, Thomas Corneillie sealed the win for Cedar Rapids, scoring his 6th goal of the season with just 25 seconds remaining to secure the 4–3 victory.

Several Riders continued their strong play during the team's late-season surge. Hawke Huff recorded an assist to extend his point streak to seven games, while Connor Davis posted his third three-point game in his last five contests, including assists on both the game-tying and game-winning goals.

Justin Graf tallied his 23rd goal of the season and added an assist to extend his point streak to four games, while Mason Minor contributed two points, bringing his total to seven points in his last eight games.

In net, Ryan Cameron made 19 saves to earn his 21st win of the season.

With the win, the RoughRiders improve to 30-16-9 overall, good for 69 points. The Riders are now tied with Muskegon for fourth place in the Eastern Conference and sit just three points out of second place with seven games remaining in the regular season.

The Riders hit the road again this weekend for a two-game series in Kearney, Nebraska against the Tri-City Storm on Friday, March 20 and Saturday, March 21, as the Riders looks to continue its late-season push.

The RoughRiders then return to The Stable for two more Dupaco Cowbell Cup matchups against Des Moines on March 25 and March 27, with only four regular season home games remaining.
